Tramitichromis intermedius "Mdoka"

Tramitichromis intermedius is living in sandy environments with vegetation or some spread boulders in shallow water. They can be found all around the lake. This male example was caught in the neighbourhood of Mdoka.

In the lake the males of these species can grow to 14 cm, in the aquarium however they can grow taller because of a good feeding. The males can then grow to about 18 cm, females grow to about 13 cm.

You can best keep this species with multiple females in a large tank with a lot of swimming space. They are quiet peaceful inhabitants and it`s best not keeping them together with mbunas.

In the lake they are seeking the sand for food, take a big bite of sand and jig this in search of small insects. In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, mysis, artemia, cyclops and shrimp-peas mix.
